Yangju City Expands Operation of 'Gamdong Taxi' to Benefit Transportation-Disadvantaged Areas Yangju City Hall

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province is expanding the coverage area of Gamdong Taxi to guarantee mobility rights and improve transportation convenience for residents in public transportation underserved areas.

The city announced on the 20th that "this year, the support areas have been expanded by 4 additional locations, allowing a total of 3,200 residents in 30 villages across 7 eup, myeon, and dong districts to enjoy transportation benefits at an affordable price."

The Gamdong Taxi operation areas are selected from villages that meet conditions such as having fewer than 5 bus services per day or bus stops located more than 500 meters away from the village.

The service is available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the user fee is 1,000 KRW per ride. Residents wishing to use the service can contact the Yangju City Integrated Call Center before using it.

Each village is allocated 60 rides per month, and the operation route is only between the village and the eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center as the departure and destination points.
