The North Face Eco-Friendly Products Recycle 100 Tons of Jeju PET Bottles

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The global outdoor brand The North Face, managed by Youngone Outdoor, announced on the 20th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the eco-friendly project "Return for Rebirth" together with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Samdasoo (Jeju Development Corporation), and Hyosung TNC.

The "Return for Rebirth" project, in which The North Face is participating, aims to establish a resource circulation system in the Jeju region. Through this agreement, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Jeju Samdasoo will collect domestically produced PET bottles discarded in Jeju, Hyosung TNC will supply "Regen Jeju," a fiber made by recycling PET bottles and the first in Korea to recycle Jeju waste PET bottles, and ultimately, The North Face will produce various eco-friendly products such as clothing, bags, and accessories using this recycled fiber.

The North Face plans to produce eco-friendly products by recycling about 100 tons of PET bottles collected in Jeju throughout this year, including the "Eco Fleece Collection" made from 10.8 million recycled PET bottles, and will officially launch these products starting in February, targeting the spring and summer seasons. Additionally, through the release of various eco-friendly capsule collections and related marketing activities, the brand intends to share the importance of practicing eco-friendly values with a wider audience.

A representative from Youngone Outdoor stated, "Through this business agreement, we will continue sincere efforts to realize eco-friendliness across all possible areas including product development, production processes, packaging, and marketing, and we will continue to evolve as a brand that practices eco-friendliness together with consumers."
