[Featured Stock] Yoon Seok-yeol Leads Polls... Deok Seong-woo Hits Upper Limit

[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Theme stocks related to Yoon Seok-yeol, Prosecutor General, are soaring as he ranks first in a public opinion poll based on a one-on-one presidential election scenario.

As of 9:55 a.m. on the 20th, Deokseongwoo, considered a theme stock of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, recorded 15,600 won, up 3,600 won (30%) from the previous day. Deokseong is trading at 8,800 won, up 1,180 won (15.49%). Seoyeon Top Metal is also rising, up 1,900 won (20.65%) to 11,100 won.

This appears to be influenced by Prosecutor General Yoon’s first-place support in the poll results. According to a public opinion poll conducted by WinG Korea Consulting on behalf of Asia Economy from the 16th to 17th, targeting 1,009 people nationwide aged 18 and over (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response), Yoon is expected to receive 46.8% support if he faces Representative Lee in the next presidential election. This is 7.8 percentage points higher than Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea (39.0%).

Compared to the same survey at the end of November last year, Yoon’s support increased by 4.3 percentage points, while Representative Lee’s support decreased by 3.4 percentage points. In particular, by gender, male support for Yoon was more than 15 percentage points higher than support for Representative Lee.

Deokseong is a manufacturer of synthetic leather and synthetic resin, and Seoyeon is an auto parts company. They are classified as theme stocks because their CEOs or outside directors are alumni of Seoul National University Law School along with Prosecutor General Yoon. However, Deokseong and Seoyeon previously disclosed that "Prosecutor General Yoon has no relation to the company’s business."
