[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Amid the severe cold wave and continuous heavy snowfall this winter, the local Village Safety Council in Jeongneung 2-dong, Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has drawn attention for its emergency snow removal efforts during the snowfall, greatly aiding vehicle traffic and pedestrian safety.

The Village Safety Council conducted pre-patrols in vulnerable areas prone to natural disasters, guided residents to evacuate during emergencies, controlled vehicle traffic, and participated in disaster recovery. During this heavy snowfall, they also spread calcium chloride and carried out snow removal operations.

In particular, Chairman Park Sang-il purchased a fertilizer spreader based on a member’s idea that it would greatly help in spreading calcium chloride, and donated it to the Jeongneung 2-dong Community Service Center.

Chairman Park Sang-il said, “I am grateful to the public officials and members who joined the snow removal efforts despite the difficulties in their livelihoods due to COVID-19, all for the safety of the residents. Going forward, the Village Safety Council will continue to take the lead in disaster prevention through volunteer work.”

A Seongbuk-gu official expressed thanks and said, “The idea of using a calcium chloride cart spreader and the purchase of the calcium chloride spreader by the Village Safety Council have been a great help in snow removal work. We will propose to the district office that this idea be introduced to all community service centers in Seongbuk-gu.”
