[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Speed skater Kim Bo-reum, who faced severe criticism over the 'exclusion skating' controversy at the Pyeongchang Olympics, has filed a 200 million won lawsuit against No Seon-yeong for damages.
On the 19th, SBS reported that Kim Bo-reum filed a damage claim lawsuit against No Seon-yeong in court last November.
According to the complaint obtained by SBS, Kim Bo-reum stated that after the 'exclusion skating controversy,' she suffered tremendous criticism due to No Seon-yeong's false claims, received psychiatric treatment, and experienced economic damage due to sponsorship suspension, demanding 200 million won in compensation.
Previously, Kim Bo-reum faced much criticism for leaving No Seon-yeong at the back during the women's team pursuit at the Pyeongchang Olympics and crossing the finish line first, making remarks that seemed to disregard teamwork.
In an interview during the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, Kim Bo-reum said, "I was skating well, but at the end, the gap between (No Seon-yeong) and us widened, so the record came out a bit disappointing."
Additionally, No Seon-yeong claimed that there was exclusion even during training, which intensified the exclusion controversy.
No Seon-yeong said, "We just trained in different places, and I think we had no chance to meet. The atmosphere was not very good."
Kim Bo-reum stated that unlike No Seon-yeong, she was training separately at the short track rink to prepare for individual events, and rather, No Seon-yeong disrupted the team atmosphere with harsh language, attaching affidavits from teammates and coaches to support her claim.
