Free Operation of 37 Programs Including Singing Class, Yoga, and English Conversation in 12 Buildings
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) has received great responses from residents for the non-face-to-face online courses operated at the community centers of the neighborhoods since the beginning of this year.
Currently, 37 programs such as singing classes, Nanta, health yoga, line dance, English conversation, Japanese conversation, ukulele, and children's creative reading are being operated at 12 neighborhood community centers, with about 1,400 residents participating.
The courses are provided in real-time through broadcasts on online communities (Naver Band) established for each neighborhood community center.
Instructors, whose activities had been limited due to social distancing, are also gaining vitality by conducting online lectures.
The district plans to continuously operate the neighborhood community center online programs until social distancing measures are lifted.
Any Seodaemun-gu resident can take the courses of interest for free regardless of the neighborhood they live in. Residents who wish to participate can inquire at the district office’s Autonomous Administration Division or the respective neighborhood community center.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “I hope the community center online programs become not only a joyful place of learning but also a warm channel of communication, and we will strive to activate various non-face-to-face programs for residents in the post-COVID-19 era.”
