[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, will open public sports facilities to Gimhae citizens only, with a capacity limit of 30%, starting from the 20th.

This comes 55 days after the full temporary closure of public sports facilities to prevent the third wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

The city will prioritize opening 26 out of 32 public sports facilities where permanent management staff can be assigned to ensure thorough and responsible quarantine measures, aiming to alleviate citizens' inconvenience caused by the long-term closure of sports facilities.

Accordingly, at least one staff member will be stationed at the entrance at all times to check for private gatherings of five or more people, conduct temperature checks, and manage strict compliance with quarantine guidelines using the 080 call outgoing visit record service.

Additionally, to instill a sense of responsibility among users for adhering to quarantine rules, facilities will receive one warning for the first violation, and if caught a second time, the facility will be closed for at least one week. In case of confirmed COVID-19 cases related to the use of public sports facilities, immediate closure for more than two weeks will be enforced as a strong measure to raise awareness.

A city official stated, “We decided to open local sports facilities to meet citizens' demands for physical activities after a long closure,” adding, “Since confirmed cases are still sporadically occurring, we ask for cooperation so that all citizens can safely use the sports facilities by following quarantine rules.”
