Recognition of Excellence in Maintaining Core National Petroleum Reserve Functions and Accident Prevention
Top Grade Award for Strengthening Petroleum Supply Security and Public Safety
Korea National Oil Corporation received the Prime Minister's Commendation in the disaster management evaluation.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Korea National Oil Corporation (President Yang Soo-young) received the 'Prime Minister's Commendation' in the 2020 National Core Infrastructure Disaster Management Evaluation.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has been conducting the National Core Infrastructure Disaster Management Evaluation annually since 2010 in accordance with the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety. The evaluation assesses the establishment and implementation status of protection plans to ensure continuity of core functions by institution.
In this evaluation, the Oil Corporation was recognized for its efforts to maintain national core infrastructure functions and prevent accidents in the oil stockpiling sector, including △ securing oil reserves to prepare for crude oil supply crises △ obtaining domestic and international business continuity management system certifications (Disaster Mitigation Excellent Company and ISO 22301) △ establishing a hazardous material storage tank fire prevention system (VOCs treatment facility) △ proactive response to COVID-19.
Based on over 40 years of experience operating oil stockpiling bases, the Oil Corporation has maintained a high level of safety management system. It was selected as one of the two top organizations in this evaluation and received the highest grade among organizations, the Prime Minister's Commendation.
A representative of the Oil Corporation stated, “Along with the fundamental goal of contributing to the national economy through stable oil supply, we will further contribute to national safety through thorough disaster management.”
