[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 19th that it held the ‘2020 Smart Solution Challenge Project Completion Report Meeting’ at Jangjaul Areum Village 5 Complex Apartments, a pilot complex in Suwan-dong Platform, introducing 4th Industrial Revolution technology to the city to solve parking difficulties.
Gwangsan-gu was selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport through a public contest for the Smart Solution Challenge Project in collaboration with private companies and the Gwangsan-gu Facilities Management Corporation, establishing the ICT-based ‘Gwangsan Citizen Happiness Parking Platform’ and securing smart shared parking spaces.
On the newly established platform, through the ‘Gwangsan Happiness Parking Lot’ app, developed for the first time in Gwangju by Gwangsan-gu, citizens are provided with real-time parking space information, parking space sharing, contactless reservation and payment, immediate discounts for disabled veterans, and violation alerts.
Along with the platform construction, 102 shared parking spaces were secured in the Suwan district, and citizens can use these spaces at public parking lot rates through the app developed by Gwangsan-gu. The app shows shared parking lots with available spaces in real time and is equipped with navigation, reservation, and payment functions.
Additionally, parking equipment and management systems were installed to provide profits and convenience to residents of apartments and other multi-family housing that offer shared parking spaces. A dedicated app for these residents was also developed, featuring additional functions such as visitor vehicle registration, delivery notification service, and apartment announcements.
Gwangsan-gu plans to operate the platform on a trial basis for one year this year, continuously improving it to expand into a system that all citizens can use.
The Gwangsan Happiness Parking Lot app will be available for download on mobile phones starting from the 20th.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, “By building the platform and discovering 102 parking spaces, we saved 6 billion KRW in taxes,” adding, “We will contribute to solving urban parking difficulties and enhancing citizen happiness by connecting and managing various parking lots in multiple locations through a single platform.”
