Yeosu City Holds 'Seafood Package' Sales Event for Lunar New Year Celebration

Semi-dried Vacuum-packed Set of Chamdom and Ureok Including Shipping for 40,000 Won

Yeosu City Holds 'Seafood Package' Sales Event for Lunar New Year Celebration

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 19th that it has stepped up to help local fish farms struggling due to cold damage in aquaculture farms during the Lunar New Year and the decline in domestic red sea bream prices caused by an increase in imported red sea bream supply.

According to the city, a 15-day seafood package sales event for the Lunar New Year will be held from tomorrow until the 3rd of next month.

The sales items consist of semi-dried vacuum-packed sets of red sea bream and rockfish, including three red sea bream weighing over 600g each and two rockfish weighing over 400g each, sold at 40,000 KRW with free shipping, which is more than 30% cheaper than market prices based on live weight.

The city sent official letters to related organizations and groups, as well as Yeosu Industrial Complex companies and hometown associations, requesting active participation in the seafood package sales event.

Individuals, institutions, or groups wishing to place orders can call the Seonamhae Fisheries Aquaculture Cooperative.

A city official stated, “We hope this will not only alleviate the management difficulties of fish farms but also bring new hope to their operations,” adding, “We look forward to the active participation of Yeosu Industrial Complex companies and related organizations and groups.”

Meanwhile, since March last year, Yeosu City has been conducting the ‘Buy Yeosu Seafood’ campaign to support fish farms struggling due to COVID-19.

Yeosu City Hall, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, hometown associations, Yeosu Industrial Complex, and 13 related organizations and groups, along with sales through the post office shopping mall and drive-thru events, have generated sales of over 1 billion KRW, supporting fish farms.
