Gwangju Nam-gu 'Baegun Square New Deal Project' Seeks Residents' Opinions

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is seeking residents' opinions on the 'Baegun Square New Deal Project.'

Nam-gu announced on the 19th that it will hold a 'resident briefing session' on the 21st and 22nd to gather local residents' opinions on the Baegun Square New Deal Project, which is being promoted as a pledge of the 7th local government administration.

Before proceeding with detailed projects such as the construction of the Green Path aerial walkway, which will be in full swing from the New Year of the Year of the Ox, the briefing aims to help residents understand the project and collect various ideas to open a new era of prosperity around Baegun Square through opinion gathering.

The briefing sessions will be held from 4 p.m. on the 21st and 22nd at the Baegun Square Urban Regeneration Field Support Center.

On the first day, the 21st, residents and merchants living around Baegun Square and Doknip-ro will attend the briefing to exchange diverse opinions on the Baegun Square New Deal Project.

The session on the 22nd is arranged to gather opinions from residents and merchants in the Baekyang-ro area.

Discussions will be held regarding the schedule and vision for detailed projects, including the Green Path aerial walkway project, which is scheduled to proceed in earnest from early this year, the street food zone, and the media facade using the laser beam project on the outer wall of Nam-gu Office.

Since the demolition of the Baegun Overpass last year, the New Deal Project around Baegun Square has been progressing rapidly, and the details of the projects are expected to take shape from the first half of this year.

First, the Green Path aerial walkway project, which connects the disconnected Green Path Park in front of Baegun Square, will soon begin construction and is expected to be completed around October.

Additionally, around June, it is expected that visitors will be able to enjoy a media facade show through the laser beam project installed on the outer wall of Nam-gu Office between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. every evening.

Furthermore, the street food zone featuring 50 art containers with artistic elements will be set up along a 500-meter section from in front of Gwangnam Lumber opposite Nam-gu Office to in front of Namgwangju Nonghyup, and the public parking lot construction project will also be in full swing starting this year.

A Nam-gu official said, "We have prepared the resident briefing session to ensure the successful promotion of the Baegun Square New Deal Project, and the interest and support of local residents for this project are very important," adding, "By the end of this year, the Baegun Square area will be transformed into a new space leading the revitalization of the local economy."
