Branksome Hall Asia, the only full-process IB international school in Jeju, announced that it has been selected as the winner of the top award, "The International School of the Year Award," at The International School Awards 2021. ISC Research, a leading global provider of market information and data on international schools, held the official awards ceremony at 10 a.m. UK local time yesterday, announcing the winners in 12 categories along with the overall best school of the year.
The International School Awards celebrate the efforts and activities of prestigious international schools worldwide across various areas including learning, education, community, welfare, leadership, and strategic operations. The event encourages sharing best practices among international schools. Notably, the education expert panel for this year’s awards evaluated outstanding educational institutions based on their innovative and diverse responses to the educational challenges posed by the COVID-19 global crisis, highlighting their potential for transformative change.
In the 2021 awards, 264 international schools from 62 countries worldwide, offering English curriculum from early years through secondary education, competed fiercely for excellence in 12 categories including welfare, community, environment and international impact, strategic operations, student safety and protection, future strategic thinking development, and university pathways. Among them, Branksome Hall Asia was shortlisted in November as a finalist in the "Strategic Leadership Initiative" and "Community Initiative" categories. At this ceremony, it was announced as the winner in the Community Initiative category and further honored with the title of "International School of the Year."
Branksome Hall Asia was highly recognized for its efforts through the student-led volunteer group called the Paradigm Club, which creatively developed safety measures for girls in Nepal, where women’s rights are limited. The club not only designed and produced these safety devices but also raised funds for donations, collaborating successfully with various related organizations. This volunteer group continues its activities, recently including students building Micro Greenhouses to donate to the local community. Branksome Hall Asia also received high marks for its strategic school management, including the operation of an innovative digital technology-based online education program across the entire school, continuous improvements through research, generous support for enhancing teachers’ technology skills, and active sharing of expertise in the international education market.
The judging panel of ISC Research, which selected Branksome Hall Asia as the world’s best international school of the year, commented, “Under the school’s excellent belief in nurturing leaders who will create a better world, the carefully planned and operated efforts and activities of the school have brought about tangible changes not only for Branksome Hall Asia students but also for the world.”
