[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo National Maritime University (President Park Seong-hyun) International Exchange Headquarters announced on the 19th that it held the international students' night "Creating My Own MMU" contest twice, on December 30 last year and the 15th of this month.

Conducted in small groups while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines, this event is the most preferred program among foreign international students. It was organized to help international students understand Korean culture and to foster a sense of solidarity and bonding as global maritime professionals.

In this contest, about 90 foreign international students from our university (Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.) created approximately 140 works expressing their impressions of Korean culture and the university image under the theme "MMU, Maritime, Hangul" on T-shirts and eco-bags. Among these, 10 works (8 eco-bags and 2 T-shirts) were carefully selected, and after preference evaluations by enrolled students and faculty members, outstanding works were chosen.

In particular, scholarships were awarded to international students who created outstanding works, and the excellent works (eco-bags and T-shirts) will be produced as university promotional materials in 2021 and used for regional and high school promotional activities.

An Byeong-won, head of the International Exchange Headquarters, stated, "Although the international students' night event was held on a reduced scale due to COVID-19, I hope it was a time for students to reflect on their study abroad life, plan for the future, and express their thoughts about Mokpo National Maritime University."
