[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is promoting the ‘2021 Senior Citizens Job and Social Activity Support Project’ to support the healthy and active elderly life of senior citizens.

This project is divided into two fields: ‘Public Interest Activity Type,’ which is volunteer-based for community public interest promotion, and ‘Social Service Type,’ which provides services utilizing experience and capabilities.

The application period is until February 3, and from March to December, a total of 9 projects will be conducted, including 8 ‘Public Interest Activity Type’ and 1 ‘Social Service Type,’ recruiting a total of 696 people.

First, the ‘Public Interest Activity Type’ is open to anyone aged 65 or older residing in the area who receives the basic pension, and a salary of 270,000 KRW is paid when working more than 30 hours per month.

▲ Senior citizen civil service helpers performing guidance tasks at the Dong community centers ▲ Nodul Clean Volunteer Group maintaining the environment of back roads, among 8 projects will be conducted.

The ‘Social Service Type’ is open to any resident aged 65 or older and runs a daycare helper support project. The salary is 590,000 KRW based on 65 hours per month.

Applications can be made at each Dong community center and project implementing agency, and the application office for each project can be found on the ‘Gu website recruitment information’ or by contacting the Job Policy Division for guidance.

Yoon Soyeon, head of the Job Policy Division, said, “We hope this senior job project will be an opportunity for seniors to catch both health and income,” and “We ask for the active participation of interested seniors.”

Meanwhile, the district has set the vision of ‘Dongjak, an economic city with a future (My Job)’ and has prepared a comprehensive plan for the public announcement system of job goals for the 7th local government term, planning to expand youth public job discovery and operate customized employment programs for vulnerable groups.
