Goheung-gun Dream Start Becomes a Strong Stepping Stone for Vulnerable Children

Over 70 Programs in Health, Childcare, and Welfare Sectors, with 640 Million Won Invested

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 18th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it plans to actively promote the Dream Start project to promote the healthy growth and development of vulnerable children under the age of 12 and to ensure equal starting opportunities.

Through meticulous case management, the county plans to identify the problems and needs of children and families and continuously provide about 70 customized integrated services in the fields of health, childcare, and welfare, aiming to create a happy world for all children in Goheung.

By sector, the county plans to operate various programs such as ▲health sector (hair and beauty services, eyeglass support, Taekwondo academy linkage) ▲childcare sector (learning support, speech therapy) ▲welfare sector (psychotherapy, family healing camp, piano academy linkage).

In particular, this year, a home visit program targeting infants aged 8 to 36 months will be operated to provide customized childcare services according to the child’s developmental stage, promoting preventive intervention.

Additionally, programs led by children and caregivers, such as making family anthologies and growing dream clusters, will be promoted to further strengthen family functions.

Furthermore, to ensure that no children in vulnerable groups are left in welfare blind spots beyond the current 206 households and 308 individuals under management, a full survey of vulnerable children will be conducted twice a year to actively discover target children. The county will focus on building a safety net that enables children to grow up healthier by efficiently promoting child welfare projects through the establishment of a network linking related institutions in the region and information exchange.

A county official said, “Goheung-gun Dream Start will carefully monitor children and families to provide customized services to strengthen the social protection function for vulnerable children and actively support children to grow up healthily.”

Meanwhile, since its opening in 2009, Goheung-gun Dream Start has faithfully played a solid stepping stone role for vulnerable children, receiving the Presidential Citation (3 times) and the Minister of Health and Welfare Citation (3 times) in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s project evaluation results.
