[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) announced on the 18th that it has been selected as an Excellent Education Donation Institution for the first time in the industry in the '2020 Excellent Education Donation Institution and Club Certification Contest' conducted by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity under the Ministry of Education.
The Excellent Education Donation Institution Certification System is a program in which the government sets certification standards and certifies institutions that meet them through evaluation, aiming to utilize excellent intellectual property owned by companies, public research institutes, and universities for education. This year, 37 new institutions were designated, and the certification period is three years.
GKL was recognized for its various education donation achievements, including the GKL Talent Development Platform, teacher training for tourism-specialized high schools, provision of non-face-to-face educational content for remote classes, and operation of employment mentoring programs for multicultural high school families, leading to its selection as an Excellent Education Donation Institution.
Yoo Tae-yeol, President of GKL, said, "We are very pleased that GKL's efforts to nurture tourism talent for the development of the tourism industry have been recognized," adding, "As a public enterprise, we will do our best to help the tourism industry regain its vitality."
GKL's education donation programs have been available through the Education Donation Portal since February.
