President Moon's Approval Rating at 37.9%... Rebounds After 4 Weeks [Realmeter]


[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A public opinion poll has shown that President Moon Jae-in's approval rating has turned upward after four weeks.


According to Realmeter, which conducted the survey on behalf of YTN from the 11th to the 15th, President Moon's approval rating for his administration's performance (positive evaluation) rose by 2.3 percentage points from the previous week's aggregate to 37.9%, announced on the 18th. The disapproval rating fell by 3.3 percentage points to 57.6%.


Realmeter analyzed, "The New Year's message presenting a blueprint for the fifth year of the administration and the third round of disaster relief funds for self-employed workers had a positive effect, leading to a rebound mainly among moderate voters rather than progressives."


Regarding party approval ratings, the People Power Party dropped by 1.6 percentage points to 31.9%, while the Democratic Party rose by 1.6 percentage points to 30.9%. Following were the People's Party at 7.1%, the Justice Party at 5.0%, and the Open Democratic Party at 5.0%.


In Seoul, where the April by-election is scheduled, the People Power Party increased by 2.5 percentage points to 35.0%. The Democratic Party fell by 2.7 percentage points to 26.3%, widening the gap between the two parties beyond the margin of error in Seoul.


The survey contacted 51,020 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final response of 2,514 people, recording a response rate of 5.0%. The sampling error is ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. For more details, refer to the Central Election Survey Deliberation Commission website.
