Gyeongnam Reports 14 New COVID-19 Cases... 'Cafes Open Until 9 PM, Religious Facilities at 20% Capacity'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] As of 1:30 PM on the 18th, Gyeongnam Province announced that a total of 14 confirmed cases have occurred: 3 in Changwon, 3 in Hamyang, 2 in Jinju, 2 in Sacheon, 2 in Gimhae, and 1 each in Yangsan and Haman.


First, the 3 confirmed cases in Changwon were contacts of confirmed cases within the province and were classified as cases 1745, 1746, and 1751.


The 3 confirmed cases in Hamyang are all family members who were confirmed positive after contact with a family member of a confirmed case in Ulsan, classified as cases 1739 to 1741.


The 2 confirmed cases in Jinju were contacts of confirmed cases within the province and were classified as cases 1742 and 1749.


The 2 confirmed cases in Sacheon tested positive after experiencing symptoms themselves and were classified as cases 1747 and 1748. The infection route is currently under investigation.


Among the 2 confirmed cases in Gimhae, one tested positive after experiencing symptoms and was classified as case 1743. The other was related to a foreign family gathering and was classified as case 1744. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the foreign family gathering to 24.


The 1 confirmed case in Yangsan also tested positive after experiencing symptoms and was classified as case 1738.


The 1 confirmed case in Haman was confirmed positive after contact with a confirmed case in Gyeongbuk and was classified as case 1750.


Accordingly, the total cumulative confirmed cases in the province have increased to 1,748 (281 hospitalized, 1,461 discharged, 6 deceased).


Meanwhile, the province extended the social distancing level 2 measures from the 18th to the 31st.


On the other hand, cafes are allowed to permit in-store dining until 9 PM, the same as restaurants, and religious facilities are allowed to hold in-person services up to 20% of seating capacity.


Additionally, Jinju City announced that it will extend social distancing level 2 from the 19th to the 25th.
