[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting the 'Bucheon Youth Tomorrow (My Job)' project to revitalize the employment market, which has been weakened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to help local youth adapt to the changing work environment.
This is a community-led youth job project that provides 20 local youths under the age of 39 with opportunities to experience digital jobs. Youth can directly select and apply to 2-3 companies participating in the project.
The employment period is from March to December, during which the youth must maintain their resident registration in Bucheon City.
Companies hiring youth will receive a monthly wage subsidy of up to 2 million KRW per youth. Companies must separately bear 10% of the wage and the employer's share of the four major social insurance premiums.
Companies wishing to participate can apply from the 18th to the 22nd, and youth wishing to participate can apply from the 27th of this month to the 5th of next month by visiting the Bucheon City Hall Job Policy Division or by email (kkio@korea.kr).
A Bucheon City official expressed hope, saying, "This project will be an opportunity to simultaneously solve the concerns of youth and companies facing difficulties in job seeking and hiring due to COVID-19 and other factors."
