[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, stated on the 18th regarding Cho Min, daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, passing the final medical licensing exam, “If the final judgment confirms Professor Jeong Gyeong-shim’s sentence, the medical license of former Minister Cho’s daughter can only be seen as proceeds from a crime that destroys fairness and turns the majority of the people into crayfish, crucian carp, and crabs,” adding, “If Jeong Yu-ra’s horse is considered criminal proceeds, then logically, the medical license of former Minister Cho’s daughter cannot be denied as criminal proceeds either.”

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Ahn said, “Those who celebrate as if some great event has occurred are accomplices in crimes that have destroyed fairness and justice in this land,” and added, “We must no longer fall into the trap of siding with crime due to factional logic.”

He pointed out, “If one does not have university admission qualifications, one cannot qualify for graduate medical school admission, and if one is not a graduate (or expected graduate) of graduate medical school, one cannot even take the national medical licensing exam,” and said, “If Professor Jeong’s crime did not exist, neither the daughter’s admission to graduate medical school nor her taking the medical licensing exam would have been possible.”

He continued, “I do not see this controversy as a political issue,” and added, “The issue of former Minister Cho’s daughter obtaining medical qualifications is a matter of national principles and standards regarding what proper social success should be.”

Ahn said, “If there is any last shred of conscience, former Minister Cho should step forward and prevent his daughter from performing medical activities or training as a resident. If they do not and instead commit acts that escalate illegality to justify their actions, they will face national resistance and backlash,” adding, “This will place an even greater burden on President Moon Jae-in and the ruling party, who are already facing difficulties.”
