[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Korea GM announced on the 18th that it will unveil the Trax SGE 1.4 Gasoline Turbo model with improved product competitiveness and begin pre-orders.
The Trax SGE 1.4 Gasoline Turbo model features ▲an upgraded gasoline engine ▲new certification as a third-class low-emission vehicle ▲newly applied user convenience systems ▲various exterior elements and enhanced standard specifications.
Seazar Toledo, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Marketing at Korea GM, said, “The Trax, which is leading the success of 'Made in Korea' compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in global markets centered on North America, has been reborn as a more attractive model through product improvements,” adding, “In particular, the outstanding driving performance and eco-friendliness provided by the more powerful gasoline turbo engine will offer great satisfaction to customers.”
Korea GM upgraded the Trax’s existing 1.4ℓ FAM0 turbo engine to a 1.4ℓ SGE direct injection turbo engine. This engine, equipped with GM’s advanced light-sizing technology, delivers a maximum output of 155 horsepower and a maximum torque of 24.5 kg.m, providing power performance comparable to a 2.0ℓ naturally aspirated engine, making it significantly more powerful.
Additionally, through this product improvement, the Trax has obtained third-class low-emission vehicle certification for the first time. This allows consumers to enjoy various benefits such as discounts at public parking lots while experiencing the powerful driving performance of the gasoline turbo engine and practicing eco-friendly consumption simultaneously.
Korea GM also newly applied a Capless Fuel System to the improved Trax model to enhance consumer convenience. The capless fuel system allows refueling without the hassle of opening and closing the fuel cap, helping drivers refuel quickly and conveniently.
Furthermore, the standard equipment package has been significantly enhanced. Popular convenience features such as the 7-inch color touch display Chevrolet infotainment system, rearview camera, dual USB ports, and 3.5-inch TFT LCD cluster, which were previously standard only on higher trims, have been advanced to standard equipment across all trims. In addition, the Safety Package 1 (blind spot warning system, rear cross-traffic alert), which was previously offered as an optional feature on the Premier trim, has also been included as standard equipment for that trim.
The price of the improved Trax model, after applying the 3.5% reduction in individual consumption tax, is as follows for the 1.4 SGE gasoline turbo engine: ▲LS Deluxe 18.85 million KRW, ▲LT 20.91 million KRW, ▲LT Core 21.70 million KRW, ▲Premier 22.98 million KRW, ▲Redline LT Core 22.05 million KRW, and ▲Redline Premier 23.30 million KRW.
