[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] Na Kyung-won, former People Power Party lawmaker who declared her candidacy for the Seoul mayoral by-election, criticized the government on the 17th by comparing it to 'jjambbong' and 'jjajangmyeon.' She specifically pointed out the Moon Jae-in administration, saying it "only makes spoiled jjambbong."
On the same day, Na posted on her Facebook, "Many people have asked questions about my remarks on centrism during a media interview, so I will try to explain it a bit more simply," she said.
Na said, "Some people prefer jjajangmyeon more, and some prefer jjambbong more. Sometimes, people want to eat both," adding, "In such cases, there is a brilliant menu called jjambbong-jjajang (jjambbong and jjajangmyeon mixed)." She continued, "Just because you want to eat both doesn't mean you pour jjambbong and jjajang into a big bowl and mix them together," and argued, "I think centrism is the same."
She also said, "Depending on the times, sometimes the left is right, and sometimes the right is right. But if you mix the two, it becomes neither," adding, "Those who make good jjambbong should present tastier jjambbong, and those confident in jjajangmyeon should make better jjajangmyeon. If the left makes jjambbong, the right should make jjajangmyeon."
Na criticized, "The Moon Jae-in administration? They didn't just make jjambbong, they kept making spoiled jjambbong," calling it a "regrettable reality." She continued, "That doesn't mean we can step forward and say, 'We'll mix jjambbong and jjajangmyeon and serve it to you.' We will keep making delicious jjajangmyeon, and someone else will make proper jjambbong."
Finally, she said, "I think this is the principle by which the world progresses. Only by being faithful to each one's values and ideology can the world develop more correctly," adding, "After writing this, I really crave a bowl of jjajangmyeon. This article is unrelated to preferences for jjambbong or jjajang. For those who prefer jjambbong, please read 'right wing = jjambbong' instead."
