[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] The Hong Kong police have launched an investigation after a video of two men engaging in sexual activity on a Hong Kong subway train spread online.

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 17th, a video showing two men having sex inside a carriage on the Tung Chung Line of the Hong Kong subway recently went viral on Twitter and other internet platforms.

The approximately 45-second video showed two naked men walking around inside an empty train carriage. Their clothes were scattered on the seats, and the video even captured other passengers sitting in a carriage far from the two men.

The faces of the two men were obscured with emoticons, but parts of their bodies were exposed. The Twitter account that posted the video was suspended after the video became a hot topic online.

SCMP reported that Hong Kong netizens who saw the video were outraged. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) said the incident was reported to the police and urged passengers not to engage in obscene or offensive behavior. The police began investigating immediately after receiving the report.

According to MTR regulations, passengers who engage in violent, obscene, or insulting behavior can be fined up to 5,000 Hong Kong dollars. Additionally, under Hong Kong law, offenders convicted of damaging public decency can face up to seven years in prison.
