Gwangju Reports 15 New COVID-19 Cases on the 16th, Total Reaches 1,433

According to Gwangju City on the 17th, the number of COVID-19 cases confirmed during the previous day was 15, classified as Gwangju cases 1419 to 1433.

It was investigated that transmission occurred through various infection routes, including medical institutions, existing confirmed cases, and overseas inflow.

Among them, 8 were confirmed cases originating from Hyojeong Nursing Hospital, who tested positive during the proactive testing conducted every three days. Centered on this nursing hospital, a total of 146 people including staff, patients, and acquaintances have been infected so far.

There were 3 cases transmitted from existing confirmed cases. Two contacts of Gwangju case 1426, whose infection route is unknown, and one related to Gwangju case 1403 were confirmed positive.

Gwangju case 1403 is a contact of Gwangju case 1390, whose infection route is unknown.

In addition, one person who entered from Uzbekistan (Gwangju case 1433) and one person whose infection route is under investigation (Gwangju case 1426) were additionally confirmed.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gwangju area has increased to 1,433.
