'2022 Gangwon World Forest Expo' Organizing Committee Chairman Appointed as Kang Tae-sun, Black Yak Chairman

'2022 Gangwon World Forest Expo' to be held for 33 days from May 4 to June 5 next year

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province and the four cities/counties of Goseong, Sokcho, Inje, and Yangyang held the founding promoters' meeting and inaugural general assembly of the 'Foundation World Forest Expo Organizing Committee' and appointed Kang Tae-seon, Chairman of BYN Black Yak Co., Ltd., as the organizing committee chairman. Governor Choi Moon-soon of Gangwon Province agreed to serve as vice chairman.

At the inaugural general assembly held the previous day (15th), Chairman Kang stated in his acceptance speech, "As the head of the organizing committee, I will do my best to ensure that Gangwon Province becomes a shining space in the world by successfully hosting the '2022 Gangwon World Forest Expo,' which will serve as a catalyst for Gangwon's future vision and regional economic development."

As promoters, 11 members including Governor Choi Moon-soon, Lee Yang-su of the People Power Party, Heo Young of the Democratic Party, Ham Myung-jun, Mayor of Goseong County, Kim Cheol-soo, Mayor of Sokcho, Choi Sang-gi, Mayor of Inje County, and Kim Jin-ha, Mayor of Yangyang County, resolved to establish the organizing committee.

At the subsequent inaugural general assembly, nine ex officio members including Chairman Kang, Governor Choi Moon-soon, representatives from Gangwon Province, the Korea Forest Service, and the hosting city/county mayors, as well as 16 executives including Sung Gil-yong, President of the Gangwon Forestry Association, were appointed.

The organizing committee secretariat, as of the 15th personnel announcement from Gangwon Province, will first receive 20 dispatched provincial government employees, establish an organizational structure with one division, two headquarters, and six departments, and set up its office in the Shinhan Bank building in downtown Chuncheon to prepare for the event.

The province plans to complete the foundation's establishment approval and corporate registration for the Gangwon World Forest Expo Organizing Committee in January. In February, it will finalize the office consignment procedures and officially launch the organizing committee to begin full-scale activities.

The '2022 Gangwon World Forest Expo' will be held from May 4 to June 5 next year for 33 days under the theme "The World Finds the Future of Humanity in Forests," at the World Jamboree Training Center in Goseong County and throughout Sokcho, Inje, Goseong, and Yangyang areas.
