Trump Effectively Fires Closest Aide, Former Mayor Giuliani

[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Ki-ho] It has been reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has effectively dismissed his close aide, former New York City Mayor Giuliani.

According to U.S. media on the 14th (local time), after the House passed the impeachment resolution against him the previous day, President Trump instructed his aides not to pay former Mayor Giuliani's legal fees.

Former Mayor Giuliani served as President Trump's personal lawyer and, after Trump's defeat in last year's presidential election, raised allegations of "election fraud" and took charge of lawsuits contesting the election results.

U.S. media evaluated President Trump's attempt to disadvantage former Mayor Giuliani as one of the most recent examples showing how Trump expelled those loyal to him.

He is described as having a style of never accepting self-reflection or criticism and constantly seeking scapegoats for the "wrongdoings" that befall him.
