Exhibition at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage: 'Sense of Balance, Culture of the Joseon Royal Court'
The Traditional Culture Product Development Office at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage announced on the 15th that it will hold an exhibition titled "Sense of Balance, Culture of the Joseon Royal Family" from the 21st to the 27th at Mumokjeok in Seochon, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The exhibition showcases the sense of balance of the Joseon royal family through craft products. It features about forty items across eighteen categories, developed through reinterpretation by graduates and current students. Items include horongs (traditional lanterns), hyangnangs (scent pouches), ceramic boxes, and incense burners.
The exhibition is divided into spaces titled "King's Time: Eulyajiram," "King's Attire: Uigeumsang-gyeong," and "King's Space." Eulyajiram (乙夜之覽) refers to the time from 9 PM to 11 PM when the king rested and read books before going to bed. Uigeumsang-gyeong means wearing a thin undergarment over luxurious silk to tone down the splendor. The former represents the balance between work and rest, while the latter signifies the balance of life as a nobleman.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the exhibition operates by advance reservation only. The number of visitors is limited to four per session. Reservations can be made through the Naver reservation system, and admission is free. For more details, please refer to the Traditional Culture Product Development Office website.
