Laundrygo Water Laundry Orders Surge 150%

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Recently, with the cold wave and heavy snowfall, sales of heating and warming-related products have surged in e-commerce. As the number of households unable to use washing machines due to frozen pipes has increased, orders for non-face-to-face laundry services have also significantly risen.

According to TMON on the 16th, an analysis of sales related to heating and warming from the 1st to the 12th of this month showed an average increase of more than twice compared to the same period last year. Among major winter heating appliances, electric heaters recorded the highest growth rate at 208%. Sales of hot water mats and electric blankets rose by 68%, and electric heating pads increased by 45%. Sales of auxiliary heating products that improve indoor heating efficiency also increased, with insulation sheets and door draft stoppers rising by 198%, and heating tents by 151%. Winter essentials such as blankets (518%), hot packs (178%), and thermal underwear showed a high growth rate exceeding 200%. Indoor winter slippers made of fur and other warm materials also gained popularity with a 288% increase in sales.

Demand for cold-weather protection products also surged due to the severe cold. Compared to last year, sales of earmuffs skyrocketed by 13,117%, and sales of gloves (462%) and neck warmers (249%) also increased. Due to consecutive heavy snowfalls, sales of winter car accessories, including snow chains (1860%) and frost and fog prevention products (295%), also rose.

Orders for non-face-to-face mobile laundry services also surged due to the ongoing cold wave. This is because the number of households unable to use washing machines due to frozen pipes has increased. According to Euisikju Company, orders for water laundry through the laundry service 'Laundrigo' increased by about 150% compared to last month. In particular, Laundrigo processed nearly 6 tons of water laundry in total, handling 2.5 tons and 3.5 tons respectively on the weekend of the 9th and 10th.

Laundrigo's water laundry service has rapidly gained popularity through portal site cafes, communities, and SNS, with an average monthly order increase of 40%, and is currently used by more than 10,000 households per month. It features premium hotel-style laundry services, including the use of proprietary detergents with excellent antiviral effects, tumbling drying effective for removing dust and mites, and an additional sterilizing wash with high-temperature steam.
