[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the People Power Party, sharply criticized former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok and Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Gun-young, who had criticized Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung, saying, "Do not be arrogant."
On the 15th, Joo said on his Facebook, "Yoon, who is the president's close aide, and Im Jong-seok, who was the president's chief of staff, are spouting nonsense like quack doctors."
Earlier, they had criticized the Board of Audit and Inspection's commencement of an audit into the legality of the process of establishing the nuclear phase-out energy policy, calling it a "challenge to democracy," "They were told to guard the house well, but they are trying to take over the master bedroom," and "Do not cross the line."
Joo said, "For people who have lived with their democratization movement experience as a badge of honor, their statements are below standard," adding, "It is horrifying that people with such ideas assisted President Moon Jae-in. These remarks disregard the basics of democracy, such as the separation of powers and the rule of law."
He continued, "President Moon's term now has only one year left. It is the downhill path of power," and pointed out, "In a country where the Constitutional Court, an appointed power, can dismiss the president, and the Supreme Court sentences that president for illegal acts, do not be arrogant by claiming that 'the elected power is the master.'"
Joo also said, "No president can reign above the law. The rule of law is the essence of democracy," and questioned, "Should those who illegally manipulated the economic feasibility of Wolseong Unit 1 and destroyed over 400 official documents of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to evade the Board of Audit and Inspection's audit not be punished?"
He further stated, "Because of the president's order to severely punish former Deputy Minister of Justice Kim Hak-ui, should illegal surveillance of an individual who is not even a criminal suspect, by illegally accessing the government's official information network, be tolerated?" and criticized, "I am only curious whether the arrogant remarks of the president's close aides, saying 'the elected power, the president entrusted by the people, can do anything,' are testifying to many illegal and unlawful acts that President Moon has secretly committed."
