[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics has unveiled its new wireless earphones, the 'Galaxy Buds Pro.' These smart wireless earphones feature noise-canceling capabilities that allow users to focus on music and automatically let in surrounding sounds during conversations. They boast the best performance ever in the Galaxy Buds series along with a pebble-inspired design.

On the 15th, Samsung Electronics announced the launch of the Galaxy Buds Pro at the online 'Galaxy Unpacked 2021' event, with availability in South Korea starting the same day. The price is 239,800 KRW. The earphones come in three colors: Phantom Black, Silver, and Violet.

Hear the sounds you want more clearly... Wind noise separated during calls

The Galaxy Buds Pro offers a sleek design, immersive audio experience, clear call quality, intelligent Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), and device-to-device connectivity. Its in-ear design minimizes external protrusion and reduces contact area between the ear and earphone for comfortable wear. Equipped with an 11mm woofer and a 6.5mm tweeter, it delivers deep bass and rich sound range. Users can enjoy optimal sound quality across genres from hip-hop to classical music.

Call quality has improved by separating the user's voice from unnecessary sounds. It features three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU), with one external microphone efficiently eliminating background noise. Windshield technology, which provides clear call quality even in strong wind conditions, has been applied for the first time in the Galaxy Buds series.

The intelligent ANC function reduces unwanted noise and enhances the sounds you want to hear. When ANC is activated, it reduces external noise by up to 99%. This has been verified by the global certification body UL. The Ambient Sound feature amplifies surrounding sounds up to 20 decibels (dB) in four levels, allowing users to have conversations or hear announcements without removing the earphones.

The earphones automatically switch between ANC and Ambient Sound modes by recognizing when the user is speaking. When the user talks while wearing the earphones, it detects this and switches to Ambient Sound mode, lowering the volume of the music being played.

Tap while wearing earphones to switch from video to phone call connection

Connection with Galaxy smartphones and tablets has become smoother. An auto-switching feature reduces the hassle of switching connections between phone and tablet. For example, if a user is watching a video on a Galaxy Tab S7 paired with Galaxy Buds Pro and receives a call on the Galaxy S21, they can answer the call directly. After ending the call, the wireless earphones immediately reconnect to the tablet and resume the video playback.

A feature enhancing immersion while watching video content has also been added. The 360 Audio with Dolby Head TrackingTM technology provides an immersive experience as if the user is in the middle of the scene when watching movies, TV shows, and other video content. A game mode reduces audio latency, delivering a realistic gaming experience.

When recording videos with a smartphone, the earphones can be used as a microphone. The Galaxy Buds Pro records the user's voice while the smartphone captures background sounds simultaneously. This allows for vivid cooking show videos where the user explains recipes while preparing ingredients and capturing cooking sounds.

Improved water resistance and up to 28 hours of playback

The Galaxy Buds Pro supports IPX7, the highest water resistance rating among Galaxy Buds products. The IPX7 rating means it can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for about 30 minutes. It is designed using 20% recycled PCM material made from waste plastic to reduce waste. It supports SmartThings Find, allowing users to quickly and easily locate the earbuds even if Bluetooth connection is lost.

Once fully charged, the earphones provide up to 8 hours of playback, and with the wireless charging case, playback can last up to 28 hours. When using ANC, playback lasts up to 5 hours, and with the case charging, up to 18 hours. Quick charging is supported, enabling 1 hour of playback with just 5 minutes of charging.

The Galaxy Buds Pro will be available for purchase starting at 1 PM on the 15th through Samsung Electronics' website, Coupang, 11st, and other online open markets, as well as offline at Digital Plaza stores and electronics retailers nationwide. Customers who purchase through Samsung's website will receive a special 'Anycall' cover. Online retailers offer character covers featuring Simpsons, Star Wars, and Kakao Friends, while Digital Plaza provides premium leather covers.
