[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 14th that it will promote the Rural Vacant House Maintenance Project for 60 houses, providing demolition costs support for abandoned houses that have not been inhabited or used for over a year and detract from the rural scenery, as of the 12th.


Applicants for the Rural Vacant House Maintenance Project must be the same as the owner listed on the building register, and in the case of unauthorized buildings, the owner listed on the land registry can apply.


The demolition cost support amount is 500,000 KRW per house, prioritizing vacant houses that harm the rural scenery around tourist spots and main roads, as well as vacant houses with slate roofs subject to demolition.


Additionally, the vacant house maintenance project can be applied for in conjunction with the slate roof demolition support project promoted by the Environmental Livestock Division. Residents wishing to apply for the project should submit their application to the relevant eup/myeon office where the vacant house is located by the 29th.


Jo Dal-hyun, Head of the Civil Service Department, stated, “We will continue to support the vacant house demolition project to improve the rural village scenery and residential environment, thereby striving to enhance the quality of life for local residents.”


Meanwhile, as of last September, there were 519 vacant houses in Gangjin-gun, of which 82 houses agreed to demolition, and the remaining 437 houses expressed opinions to not demolish but to utilize them later.
