"Leading Contactless Security with AI and Big Data"… S-1 Solidifies Its Unrivaled No.1 Position

Changes in Security Trends Due to COVID-19... Accelerating the Establishment of Integrated Security Platforms with AI, Biometric Authentication, ICT, and Big Data

"Leading Contactless Security with AI and Big Data"… S-1 Solidifies Its Unrivaled No.1 Position S-1 researchers are testing a security solution scheduled for release.

S1, the top security company, has identified four key technologies expected to lead the industry this year: artificial intelligence (AI), biometric authentication, information and communication technology (ICT), and big data. This outlook reflects attention to social phenomena emerging after the COVID-19 pandemic, such as advancements in AI technology, the rise of unmanned stores, the normalization of remote work, and the widespread use of surveillance.

On the 14th, S1 (CEO Noh Hee-chan) forecasted that intelligent security solutions equipped with AI technology, unmanned solutions integrated with biometric authentication, the expansion of the information security market utilizing ICT, and the establishment of integrated control centers applying big data will be the security industry trends this year. S1 explained that since the COVID-19 pandemic, contactless security solutions have gained prominence, and interest in new forms of security technology is growing, indicating a shift in industry trends.

◆Changes in Security Trends After COVID-19 = According to S1, intelligent CCTV systems applying AI technology have played a significant role in tracking the movement of confirmed COVID-19 patients and managing hospital room patients since the pandemic. As a result, the AI security market is expanding, and various intelligent security solutions equipped with AI technology are expected to be introduced this year.

Last year, over 100,000 unmanned kiosks were installed domestically, marking a 61.5% growth compared to the previous year, which is also expected to impact the market. In particular, unmanned solutions integrated with biometric authentication are anticipated to increase.

There are also changes due to the spread of remote work. The risk of system paralysis from ransomware attacks during remote work and concerns over the leakage of critical corporate information have heightened the importance of information security and IT solutions.

Attention is also focused on building integrated control centers applying big data. The anxiety over infections has led to increased interest in advanced security systems capable of thorough epidemiological investigations of confirmed cases.

◆Advanced Security Solutions Leading the Trend = S1 plans to solidify its position as the industry leader this year by unveiling an ‘Integrated Security Platform’ that encompasses advanced technologies such as AI, biometric recognition, ICT, and big data. To this end, it is accelerating the construction of the ‘Integrated Security Platform’ by integrating its research and development (R&D) organization with the business division and merging the physical security business and building management business organizations into one.

The first launch of the integrated security platform will be the ‘Smart Building Management Solution,’ based on AI and big data technologies, coming soon. This solution combines the monitoring expertise and dispatch infrastructure of security services with the building management business. The biometric authentication technology of the integrated security platform will be applied to unmanned store solutions. There is also a plan to expand the application scope of facial recognition systems for contactless access management in unmanned stores. The facial recognition technology achieves an accuracy rate of 99.9%. S1 plans to release ‘customized unmanned solution packages’ focusing on industries where unmanned operations are actively progressing, such as study cafes, laundromats, and karaoke rooms.

In the first quarter, a fever detection solution combining biometric authentication and AI technology will also be introduced, providing both access control and temperature monitoring functions simultaneously. The information security product ‘S1 ESP’ prevents complex information security issues such as ransomware, virus infections, and personal information leaks in response to the increasing trend of remote work.

CEO Noh Hee-chan of S1 emphasized, "Technologies that align with the changed living environments and patterns of customers after the pandemic represent new value in security products. This year will be a year to firmly establish our super-gap No. 1 position by leading security industry trends based on S1’s outstanding technological capabilities in AI, biometric authentication, ICT, and big data."
