Gangdong-gu Supports Eco-friendly Agricultural Produce Packages for Pregnant Women

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is promoting the '2021 Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project for Pregnant Women,' which supplies healthy eco-friendly agricultural products to pregnant women residing in Gangdong-gu and helps farmers struggling with decreased consumption of eco-friendly agricultural products by establishing sales channels.

The 2021 support targets are mothers who gave birth after January 1, 2020, or pregnant women, with a new recruitment of 1,000 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each pregnant woman will receive eco-friendly agricultural products up to a total limit of 410,000 KRW (with a 20% self-payment), and an additional 70,000 KRW will be provided in the form of a package. However, applicants from 2020 can continue to use the service without a separate application.

The package support items include eco-friendly certified organic agricultural and livestock products, pesticide-free agricultural products, organic processed foods, and pesticide-free raw material processed foods. Applications can be made up to 4 times per month (16 times per year), with each order between 30,000 KRW and 100,000 KRW.

Applications will be accepted online from 10 a.m. on the 25th (via the Pregnant Women Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Shopping Mall), and if online application is not possible, in-person applications can be submitted at Gangdong-gu Office (Urban Agriculture Division).

For in-person applications, a resident registration certificate (issued within the last 3 months) and pregnancy or childbirth verification documents are required. Acceptable verification documents include a pregnancy confirmation letter (issued by a hospital), a maternal handbook with hospital name and doctor’s seal, a pregnancy and childbirth medical expense support application (National Health Insurance Corporation), a birth certificate, or a resident registration certificate with birth registration.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “The eco-friendly agricultural products package support project for pregnant women is expected to contribute to the health promotion of pregnant women, the promotion of eco-friendly agricultural product consumption, and the revitalization of the local economy.”
