Installation of 'Illegal Parking Enforcement CCTV' and 'Smart Alimi' Alerting Enforcement
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seongap) has installed various safety facilities within school zones to ensure safe walking for children and residents.
First, the district installed 'pedestrian guidance lights' at 39 crosswalks within school zones.
Pedestrian guidance lights are LED markers installed along both sides of crosswalks on the ground, emitting light 24 hours a day to help drivers recognize crosswalks and pedestrians from a distance and reduce their speed.
These pedestrian guidance lights were primarily installed in locations where installing traffic signals is structurally difficult or where there is a high risk of traffic accidents, and they are expected to contribute to preventing safety accidents, especially at night or during bad weather.
In addition to school zones, the district installed pedestrian guidance lights in four other areas with heavy student foot traffic, achieving the second highest installation rate of pedestrian guidance lights among Seoul's 25 autonomous districts.
Along with this, the district added CCTV cameras to prevent illegal parking in two school zones: Dongui Elementary School and Shinyang Elementary School, operating a total of five enforcement CCTVs in the area.
Furthermore, in front of the main gate of Dongui Elementary School, the district installed the nation's first 'Illegal Parking Smart Notifier' to alert about illegal parking enforcement.
The Illegal Parking Smart Notifier was selected by Hantech for the 'Ministry of SMEs and Startups Startup Package Project' and installed free of charge as a pilot. It displays vehicles illegally parked in front of the school and partial license plate numbers on the screen to discourage drivers from parking illegally.
Mayor Kim Seongap said, "Through the installation of pedestrian guidance lights and the Illegal Parking Smart Notifier, we expect to enhance safe walking for children and residents as well as improve the driving environment for motorists," adding, "We will continue to create a safe traffic environment centered on children and pedestrians."
