Gimhae City to Operate Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team

Capture of wild boars, water deer, and others throughout Gimhae City until 12.31

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, is operating a damage prevention team to minimize crop damage caused by harmful wild animals.

The city announced on the 13th that the damage prevention team, consisting of 32 professional hunters selected based on hunting license holding period and hunting experience, will be active until December.

When damage occurs due to harmful wild animals, reporting to the Water Quality Environment Division of City Hall and the Eup/Myeon/Dong Administrative Welfare Centers will lead to capture activities to minimize the damage.

The damage prevention team captures harmful wild animals such as wild boars, water deer, and magpies. In particular, to prevent the spread of African swine fever, thorough hygiene management will be implemented during wild boar capture, and carcasses will be handled according to standard action guidelines.

Additionally, the city supports farmers by providing installation support for damage prevention facilities and paying damage compensation to prevent further damage.

Lee Yong-gyu, head of the Water Quality Environment Division, said, “We will strengthen the operation of the damage prevention team to ensure that residents’ hard-grown crops are not damaged by harmful wild animals and will make further efforts to prevent the spread of African swine fever.”
