‘Car Tax Annual Prepayment’ in Sejong City, 9.15% Tax Deduction for Early Payment

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 13th that it will accept applications for this year's annual prepayment of automobile tax until the 31st of this month.

The automobile tax annual prepayment system is a system that deducts a portion of the tax amount during the prepayment period when paying the automobile tax, which is imposed every June and December, in a lump sum.

Previously, when paying the automobile tax annually in January, 10% of the annual tax amount was deducted. However, from this year, by deducting 10% from February to December, the city explains that the actual deduction amount becomes 9.15% of the total tax amount.

The annual prepayment of automobile tax is until the 31st of this month, and if payment is not made within the deadline, a bill will be sent from the regular June installment, and the tax deduction benefit cannot be received.

The city has already sent annual prepayment bills to vehicle owners who previously applied and paid for the annual prepayment, but even if they have not received the bill, all vehicle owners of all types can apply for the annual prepayment.

Applications for annual prepayment can be made by visiting or calling the Taxation Division of City Hall or the Eup/Myeon/Dong Community Service Centers, or via the internet through WETAX.

If the vehicle is transferred to another person or the registration is canceled after the automobile tax has been prepaid, the tax amount can be refunded on a prorated basis.
