Gangdong-gu Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for Autonomous Internal Control Operation Evaluation

Selected as an Excellent Institution in Evaluation of 243 Local Governments Nationwide...Preventing Administrative Errors through Self-Diagnosis System, Enhancing Transparency and Integrity

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation in the '2020 Autonomous Internal Control System Operation Evaluation' conducted among 243 local governments nationwide.

Autonomous internal control is a system designed to prevent administrative errors or corruption that may occur during work processes in advance and to enhance transparency and integrity of work through the Cheongbaek-e system, self-diagnosis system, and public official self-management system.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducts an annual 'Autonomous Internal Control Operation Evaluation' targeting local governments, and Gangdong-gu was selected as an excellent institution in this evaluation, earning the honor of receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation.

Since 2014, Gangdong-gu has established a regulatory foundation by enacting the 'Seoul Special City Gangdong-gu Autonomous Internal Control Operation Regulation' and has been promoting various policies to revitalize autonomous internal control, such as providing incentives through self-evaluation.

In particular, Gangdong-gu was recognized for its efforts to enhance employees' public service ethics and integrity by conducting continuous monitoring through the Cheongbaek-e system and operating the Self-Check system and public official self-management system.

Additionally, the district has made various efforts to maintain a public service atmosphere that does not lose its commitment to integrity even under the difficult conditions of COVID-19 by conducting online integrity education using video systems, 'Integrity TalkTalk' broadcast by the district mayor, and internal broadcasts.

Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon of Gangdong-gu said, “This award is the result of the efforts of all public officials in Gangdong-gu to create an honest and trusted Gangdong,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to become a more transparent and trusted public service society for residents.”
