Send a Reply to the Congratulatory Message for the Appointment of the General Secretary
On the 10th, the 1st plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was held in the headquarters meeting room of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 11th. Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, sent a reply message expressing gratitude for the congratulatory message from Xi Jinping, President of China and General Secretary of the Communist Party, the Korean Central News Agency reported on the 13th.
In the reply sent on the 12th, General Secretary Kim expressed thanks, saying, "I deeply appreciate Comrade General Secretary's warm and enthusiastic congratulations on my assuming the position of General Secretary of the Workers' Party."
He continued, "The fact that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was the first to send a congratulatory message to our Party's 8th Congress, followed again by Comrade General Secretary being the first to send congratulations, deeply moved me and all the members of our Party."
General Secretary Kim stated, "I will cherish the comradely friendship with Comrade General Secretary as invaluable," and "I will make every effort to consolidate and develop the Korea-China (Buk-Chung) friendship, which is directly linked to the interests of the two parties and the peoples of the two countries."
Earlier, in his congratulatory message on the 11th, President Xi congratulated Kim Jong Un, saying, "The re-election of Comrade General Secretary as the supreme leader of the Workers' Party reflects the trust, support, and expectations of all Workers' Party members and the Korean (North Korean) people," and pledged to strengthen strategic guidance for North Korea-China relations.
