[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, is operating the 'Eco-friendly School Meal Integrated System' starting this year and supports and supplies excellent local agricultural products for school meals at kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the area.
Jeongseon-gun announced on the 12th that "starting this year, to provide more systematic and efficient eco-friendly school meals, we are establishing an integrated operation system with a project budget of 16 million KRW."
The county has completed all administrative procedures such as environment setup for system operation, user training, operation of an information desk, and remote support, and plans to begin full-scale operation from March.
Additionally, it supports 35 elementary, middle, and high schools with 1.69971 billion KRW for lunch expenses during the semester, and provides 222 million KRW to 50 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools to cover the supply cost difference for eco-friendly excellent ingredients produced in Jeongseon-gun for school meal support.
Jeongseon-gun, the first local government nationwide to fully implement free eco-friendly meals for all students from kindergarten to high school, will support eco-friendly agricultural product school meals for students at 50 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the area this year.
Choi Seungjun, the mayor of Jeongseon-gun, said, "Through this integrated operation system, we will strive to promote the consumption of excellent eco-friendly agricultural products produced locally, boost farmers' motivation for farming, and increase farmers' income."
