North Korea Publishes Full Text of Xi Jinping-Kim Jong Un Congratulatory Message
"Firm Policy to Safeguard and Develop North Korea-China Relations"
North Korea continued the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party for the seventh day, and on the 11th, held sectoral consultations on military, industry, and agriculture, the Korean Central News Agency reported on the 12th. North Korea expressed gratitude to the Chinese Communist Party for sending a congratulatory message to the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party and pledged to further strengthen and develop bilateral relations. Chinese President Xi Jinping also sent a congratulatory message to Kim Jong Un, who was appointed as 'General Secretary,' demonstrating their friendship.
On the 12th, North Korea's state media, Korean Central News Agency, released the full text of the congratulatory message sent by Xi Jinping, who is both the President of China and General Secretary of the Communist Party, to Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the Workers' Party, the previous day.
In the message, President Xi stated, "It is the firm and unwavering policy of the Chinese Party and government to excellently safeguard, consolidate, and develop China-North Korea relations," adding that "in the context of a world entering a period of turmoil and transformation, we will strengthen strategic guidance over the relations between the two parties and two countries."
He further emphasized the willingness to "continuously inscribe a new chapter of China-North Korea friendship and cooperation based on a series of important mutual understandings achieved by both sides, promote the development of the socialist cause of the two countries, uphold the political resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue, thereby safeguarding regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity, and bring greater happiness to the two countries and their peoples."
President Xi also congratulated Kim Jong Un on his appointment as General Secretary at this Party Congress, stating, "The re-election of Comrade General Secretary as the supreme leader of the Workers' Party fully demonstrates the trust, support, and expectations of all party members and the Korean (North Korean) people toward Comrade General Secretary."
Under the name of the Workers' Party of Korea, North Korea also sent a congratulatory message to the Chinese Communist Party.
In the congratulatory message sent on the 11th to the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party under the name of the "8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea," North Korea expressed sincere gratitude, saying, "We sincerely thank the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for being the first to send a sincere congratulatory message ahead of this Congress."
The message continued, "As emphasized in the Party Congress report, the Workers' Party has opened a new chapter of firm friendship centered on socialism by prioritizing the development of the special relationship between the two parties and two countries with a long historical root."
It also stated, "All party members of the Workers' Party will continue to make every effort to firmly consolidate the China-North Korea friendship, which embodies the heartfelt efforts of the supreme leaders of the two parties, and to further strengthen and develop it in accordance with the demands of the times."
