Diary and English Study Replaced by 'Supplements'... New Year's Resolutions Changed by COVID-19

Tmon "New Year's Resolution Products Also Undergo Generational Change... Health Over Plans"

Diary and English Study Replaced by 'Supplements'... New Year's Resolutions Changed by COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] TMON (CEO Lee Jin-won) announced on the 7th that as the COVID-19 pandemic prolongs, more people are prioritizing health as their New Year's resolution, leading to changes in the 2021 New Year product trends.

According to TMON, at the beginning of this year, demand for health-related products such as supplements significantly increased compared to traditional resolution products like diaries. Analyzing sales data from the 28th of last month to the 4th of this month, sales of supplements and health functional foods rose by 183% compared to the same period last year. Additionally, home training equipment such as rowing machines, dumbbells, and push-up bars showed a high increase rate of 160%.

On the other hand, popular New Year products like diaries, notebooks, language study materials, and smoking cessation aids recorded double-digit growth last year but only single-digit growth this year. The sales growth rate of products aimed at making new resolutions and plans for the New Year was not as significant as in previous years.

TMON believes that as outdoor activities like travel become increasingly impossible and most plans made last year were not realized, many people are not setting specific New Year resolutions this year but are instead focusing on health management in preparation for COVID-19.

Accordingly, TMON is conducting a '2021 New Year's Resolution' promotion until the 10th, selling supplements, health functional foods, and home training products for 'home-stay' fitness.
