9.15% Discount for Paying Car Tax Annually in January

Payment and Reporting Available from January 16 to January 31... Internet Payment via Seoul eTax or WiTax, Also Possible by Phone or Visiting District Office

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is accepting applications for the 2021 annual prepayment of automobile tax, which encourages sincere tax payment and provides tax-saving benefits to taxpayers.

The application period for the annual prepayment of automobile tax is from January 16 to January 31.

Taxpayers can file and pay online through the Seoul e-Tax website or the WETAX website, or they can apply by phone or visit the district office in person.

There are various payment methods available. Payments can be made using bankbooks or cards at unmanned payment machines and ATMs of all banks nationwide, via account transfer through a dedicated account, convenient payment at convenience stores, or through simple payment applications or the STAX mobile application.

The annual prepayment system for automobile tax allows taxpayers to pay the regular automobile tax, which is usually charged twice a year (in June and December), in a lump sum in January with a partial tax discount.

Applications for annual prepayment can be made in January, March, June, and September each year. Discounts of 9.15% of the annual amount in January, 7.5% in March, 10% on the second half of the year in June, and 5% on the second half of the year in September are applied.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The annual prepayment of automobile tax will be a good opportunity to receive tax-saving benefits,” and added, “We ask for many applications from residents.”

Meanwhile, the district plans to send payment notices starting January 11 to taxpayers who prepaid their automobile tax last year and those who applied in advance.

Last year, about 30% of vehicles registered in the district, totaling 35,022 cars, received the prepayment benefit and paid 6.99 billion won.
