Revised Rank Title System from 5 to 3 Levels
Promoting a Horizontal Organizational Culture of Mutual Respect
Strengthening Reward System Focused on Work Expertise and Performance
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store CU, announced on the 4th that it will fully introduce smart offices starting this year. In line with the recent trend of increasingly diversified corporate work styles such as flexible, remote, and distributed work, the company will sequentially convert offices in more than 20 regions nationwide into smart offices.
BGF explained that the smart office is designed to enhance employees' work immersion by innovating office spaces through customized design based on detailed job analysis.
Considering the work characteristics of sales positions such as SC (Store Consultant) and SP (Store Planner), which have a relatively high proportion of fieldwork, the company eliminated the previously designated spaces by team and individual and applied a free seating system with an open structure that can be used freely.
To improve space efficiency, the shared space was increased from the previous 20% to up to 40%. In addition to focused workspaces partitioned for single occupancy, private phone booths and other separate facilities were prepared to implement a user-centered on-demand work environment.
Along with this, starting this year, the group’s job title system will be reorganized from the existing five levels to three levels to activate a mutually respectful horizontal organizational culture and strengthen a work expertise and performance-based compensation system. Min Seung-bae, Head of the Human Resources and General Affairs Office, said, "Changes in the corporate work environment tailored to the new normal era are not a choice but an essential strategy for sustainable growth in the future," adding, "We will continuously introduce new systems and policies to present a healthy vision so that the company and its employees can grow together."
