GS Retail and GS Home Shopping to Share Unmanned Parcel Lockers at Convenience Stores

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] GS Retail and GS Home Shopping have taken their first step after the merger by sharing convenience store unmanned parcel lockers.

GS25 announced on the 29th that through the non-face-to-face parcel locker service BOX25, operated jointly with logistics specialist GS Networks, customers can now receive GS Shop parcels.

Customers can purchase GS Shop products online and select GS25 BOX25 as the pickup location, allowing them to collect their parcels at any desired time and store 24 hours a day without face-to-face contact.

BOX25 is an unmanned parcel locker operated by GS Retail at convenience store GS25, where customers can receive ambient and refrigerated parcel products. When a parcel arrives at GS25, the customer receives an arrival notification text message along with a QR code. Throughout the entire process from parcel arrival to pickup, neither GS25 staff nor customers need any direct contact or inquiries.

This integration is expected to increase the number of customers able to receive parcels at convenience stores, thereby boosting store visits. Synergies from the combination of online and offline platforms and expanded customer services are also anticipated. GS Shop ships over 54 million products annually. For refrigerated products, which will be available early next year, using BOX25 can reduce the use of cooling packs, contributing to environmental protection.

Byeong-hoon Ahn, Executive Director of GS Retail’s Product Division, said, “We take great pride in GS25, a life platform visited by over 5 million customers daily, collaborating with GS Shop, Korea’s largest home shopping company with about 18 million customers, to improve logistics efficiency.” He added, “We will provide convenience to customers and also offer services that consider energy and the environment for society.”

Meanwhile, GS25 and GS Shop will hold an opening event until January 31 next year. Customers who order products from GS Shop, select BOX25 pickup service for delivery, and leave a comment on the GS Networks homepage event page are eligible. Prizes include a Dyson Airwrap and Cafe25 vouchers.
