The Only Private Company Awarded the Minister of Disaster Management Award
Establishment of Disaster Type-Specific Manuals and Rapid Response Systems
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus was the only private company to receive an award in the '2020 National Core Infrastructure Disaster Management Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation was conducted on 124 organizations (across 11 sectors, including 37 private operators) to assess the disaster management capabilities of national core infrastructure in the event of a disaster. The disaster management evaluation covered ▲setting the scope of protection targets ▲risk identification ▲risk analysis ▲risk assessment capabilities through various methods such as on-site inspections, document reviews, and face-to-face evaluations.
LG Uplus was highly rated for establishing crisis response manuals for 15 types of disasters including fire, and for tailoring them to 160 important communication facilities nationwide. Additionally, the company was recognized for using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to proactively identify road excavation work information to respond to faults in underground lines, and for creating a task force (TF) to establish a rapid reporting and response system to address new types of disasters such as COVID-19.
They conducted six rounds of in-house training for 163 disaster management personnel and held company-wide disaster drills twice a year to ensure related departments could respond swiftly in actual situations. Employees holding the national certification for corporate disaster management specialists also contributed to the high evaluation.
