[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has been released from self-quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, dpa news agency reported on the 26th (local time).


According to the report, the French presidential office, the ?lys?e Palace, announced that President Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron moved to the Fort de Br?gan?on on the Mediterranean coast ahead of Christmas.


However, the duration of their stay was not disclosed separately.


Built in the 17th century, Fort de Br?gan?on is located on the Mediterranean coast and is mainly used as the president's summer residence.


After testing positive for COVID-19, President Macron stayed at a residence in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, while Brigitte Macron stayed at the ?lys?e Palace in Paris.


President Macron showed symptoms such as fatigue, cough, and muscle pain after testing positive but has recently shown signs of recovery.


Prime Minister Jean Castex, who had entered self-quarantine after contact with President Macron, was released from quarantine on the 23rd after testing negative twice for COVID-19.


Meanwhile, France recorded 22,262 new confirmed cases and 159 new deaths on the day before Christmas.
