Suspended Sentence for 20s Member of n번방 Who Purchased Thousands of Pornographic Materials

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] A court has sentenced a man in his 20s, a member of the Telegram 'n번방', who was charged with purchasing and possessing thousands of obscene materials, to a suspended sentence.

The Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Jung Moon-sik) announced on the 26th, "A (25), who was charged with possession of obscene materials under the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse, was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year suspension."

Additionally, he was ordered to attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures, perform 120 hours of community service, and undergo probation.

In the judgment, the court stated, "The number of sexual exploitation materials is large, and their content significantly hinders children and adolescents from growing into healthy members of society, making the defendant's responsibility heavy."

However, the court explained the sentencing reasons by saying, "Considering that the defendant has no prior criminal record, admits all charges, shows remorse, and that there is little evidence of redistribution."

A was charged with viewing about 2,200 sexual exploitation materials and storing them on his mobile phone in exchange for giving cultural gift certificates to 'Kelly', who inherited the n번방 from 'GodGod' Moon Hyung-wook (24) in August last year.

Earlier, in March of the same year, he was also charged with purchasing about 300 sexual exploitation materials by giving cultural gift certificates through a Telegram chatroom opened by 'GodGod'.
