[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The National Researcher Information System (NRI), aimed at creating a researcher-centered research environment, will be launched on the 28th.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced this and stated that through future interconnection with the Project Support System (scheduled for August next year), the integration of the pan-government research support system will be completed. Following last year's integration of the research fund management system, the government has now established the NRI.

The NRI is one of the core tasks of the pan-government research support system integration, promoted as part of national policy goals to create a researcher-centered research environment, strengthen collaboration between ministries and research management specialized institutions, and advance data-driven science and technology policies.

The government plans to integrate researcher information scattered across various research management specialized institutions by July next year, and secure the quality and reliability of researcher information through researcher-led self-information management.

Kim Seongsu, Head of the Science and Technology Innovation Headquarters, said, "The launch of the NRI is not just the integration of systems and information but the beginning of a transition to a researcher-centered research environment." He added, "Once the integrated project support system is completed in the second half of next year, information on research fund execution, researchers, and project details will be combined, and the innovation of research administration through big data of national research and development information will be fully activated."
