Text Preview and Motion Recognition Implemented
S Pen for S21 Ultra Sold Separately
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Functions such as preview and motion detection, which were equipped in the Galaxy Note series, will be implemented with the S Pen on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
On the 23rd (local time), S Pen features were revealed during the FCC certification process of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S21 in the United States.
It is specified that the Galaxy S21 can use functions that detect motion in hover mode and click mode. The 'Air Actions' feature, which performs specific functions when pressing the button on the S Pen and moving it in the air, is expected to be supported. A feature that allows previewing photos or text by hovering the S Pen over the screen like a mouse will also be provided.
Many of the functions available on the Galaxy Note series are expected to be available on the Galaxy S21 as well. Along with this, Samsung Electronics plans to equip the Galaxy S21 Ultra with UWB (Ultra Wideband) functionality, NFC, and Galaxy Buds Pro battery sharing features. It will be equipped with either the Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100 chipset, support 12GB RAM and 128/256GB memory, and have a battery capacity of 5000mAh.
The S Pen will only be available for the Galaxy S21 Ultra model and will be sold separately. The Galaxy S21 Ultra does not have an S Pen storage slot. Instead, Samsung plans to release a separate case that can store the S Pen. IT specialized media SamMobile explained, "Considering that the S Pen does not have a storage slot and the leaked price, the S Pen will be sold separately and may be offered as a pre-order gift in some countries."
The Galaxy S21 is the first Galaxy S series to support the S Pen. On the 16th, Tae-moon Roh, President of Samsung Electronics' Wireless Business Division, officially confirmed the inclusion of the S Pen, stating, "We plan to expand the Galaxy Note experience, which consumers enjoy the most, to a wider range of products."
