[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Sparrow announced on the 23rd that it has been selected for the ‘2020 Small and Medium Business Technology Innovation Development Project Market Response Task.’
The ‘Small and Medium Business Technology Innovation Development Project Market Response Task,’ hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, is a project that supports technology development for small and medium enterprises in promising technology fields of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Sparrow was recognized for its differentiated technology and market competitiveness in the open-source management tool SCA (Software Composition Analysis) and was selected in the ‘Artificial Intelligence field,’ one of the 16 strategic areas of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Sparrow will conduct research and development to secure new artificial intelligence technologies with government funding of 500 million KRW. The plan is to integrate and advance these technologies into Sparrow SCA.
Sparrow SCA analyzes both the source code and binaries of software simultaneously, detecting open-source components of libraries developed externally as well as its own developed source code. It checks for license violations and security vulnerabilities and manages them in an integrated manner. Through this project, Sparrow will apply various artificial intelligence algorithms to Sparrow SCA. It aims to become an intelligent solution that accurately diagnoses issues related to open-source software license copyright and security vulnerabilities in use, minimizing legal disputes and security incidents.
Jang Ilsu, CEO of Sparrow, said, "Existing analysis methods currently on the market have significantly reduced recognition rates when open source is used with some modifications," adding, "There are many difficulties in removing security vulnerabilities and managing licenses." He continued, "Sparrow has greatly improved the recognition accuracy for similar code," and added, "We will present a new paradigm for open-source management tools."
